About Alexandria Friends School
Who We Are
Alexandria Friends School (Friend = Quaker) was founded to offer a challenging liberal arts curriculum in a safe and nurturing environment, with a focus on teaching our students to think independently. As Friends we highly value working together as a community, and strive to produce graduates who will take communitarian ideals into the world beyond middle and high school. Our flexible approach to education enables us to reach students facing a variety of challenges, often those for whom other educational environments are not working. Our small classes also help home schoolers seeking a transition to rejoining their peers in education. We welcome your inquiries and encourage you to visit the rest of our website.
What We Do
Alexandria Friends School exists to restore hope to students and their families–hope that their student can recover their natural curiosity and love of learning. We achieve this goal by respecting the individual student and understanding that her or his needs for success in the classroom are as individual as they are. At the same time, we pursue a variety of methods that combine the best in traditional education with innovative approaches designed to address the individual needs of our students. As a result, we have succeeded in helping students finish high school (through grades 6-12) where others have failed to move them toward that goal.
That being said, we are not, and cannot be, all things to all students. Yet for those for whom we are a good fit, real transformation can occur. Students who are willing to trust that we have their best interests at heart, and parents who are willing to entrust their student’s education to us, find that school works for them again.
We invite you to visit our school and see whether Alexandria Friends School may be that place where your student can reconnect to his or her innate love of learning.
